Brand and origin

Make the source yours. Keep the identity clear.

“LitScenes,” the LitScenes logo and icon, and the official-build identity identify software and services authorized by Kevin Riggen. The open-source license does not grant trademark rights.

Generally permitted

• Truthful nominative references such as “based on LitScenes Community” or “compatible with LitScenes.”
• Linking to the official project or describing compatibility without implying sponsorship.
• Exact, unmodified redistribution when the packaging and presentation do not misrepresent its origin.
• Fair use and other statutory uses that do not require permission.

Modified distributions

Modified distributions must adopt a distinct name, bundle identifier, and non-confusing branding unless separately authorized. They must not use the official LitScenes icon, signing identity, update channel, or presentation in a way that suggests the fork is an official build.

Permission required

• Naming a modified or independent product “LitScenes” or using a confusingly similar product identity.
• Using the LitScenes logo or official icon as a fork’s primary branding.
• Claiming endorsement, certification, partnership, or official status.
• Using official signing, notarization, update, or distribution identities without authorization.

No effect on the AGPL

This policy concerns brand identity and origin. It does not narrow rights granted by AGPL-3.0-only to the Community software, and it does not prohibit accurate unmodified redistribution, nominative reference, or another use protected by law.
